Melika Tehrani (Bastaninezhad)

Singing, Solfege, Children's Music (Orff), Interior Decoration and Design

 

Melika Tehrani was born in Tehran. She started learning music at age 9 by playing piano, and later pursued classical singing. In addition to her training, Melika studied 'Orff', a unique method of music tuition for youths, from various great Iranian and foreign teachers.
Her formal studies of 'Music Teaching Methodology' took place in Tehran with Sharif Lotfi, the director of the Tehran Art University Music School. She thereby achieved her teaching certificate in singing and children’s music in Tehran Music Centre.
Melika participated in several major concerts at the Tehran Art University, performing Iranian folkloric music by Siavash Baizai as soprano. She also taught singing and music to adults and children in Iran and Australia and she is a member of the choir of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

Currently, she is pursuing wider creative fields abroad, studying at the University of Melbourne, mastering in architecture. Melika has also achieved professional certificates and diplomas in Interior Decoration and Design in Victoria. She is assisting the Victorian Persian Arts Centre and Iranian Society of Victoria to organize short courses and masters classes in Interior Decoration and Design for local Iranians.
