Santur
Kamran Khajehpour was born in 1976 in Shiraz, Iran. He completed both his Bachelor and Master studies in material science and engineering in Shiraz University, Iran. He started playing the santūr (Persian hammer dulcimer) from the age of 11 with Ostād Dr. Masih Afghah and continued with him for more than 15 years. Along this period, he learnt another narration of the national Iranian Radif from Ostād Shahkaram. Kamran acknowledges Ostād Payvar and Meshkatian as the most influential musicians in his musical character. He worked with many peers and music ensembles in Iran and pursued playing the santūr professionally. He had several opportunities to perform in front of Ostād Payvar, Zarif, Fakhreddini and was admired by them. Kamran has acquired first rank in several music festivals since 1993-2000.
Kamran is doing his PhD research on nanotechnology at Monash University.
