Santur, Theory, Harmony, Solfege, Composition, Counterpoint

Arman Habibi was born in Hamedan in western Iran.  He began playing the santour in 1988 and 1996 was awarded first place in an Iranian youth competition (Fadjr Festival).  He began his study of classical music in 1992 under Mehran Rouhani and in 1994 began teaching santour and classical and Persian music theory.  From 2003 to 2008 he continued his study of composition at the St Petersburg State Conservatory in Russia.  He has given solo santour recitals and performed with the medieval music ensemble Lanterna Magica in Russia and Ukraine.
